SUMMER TIPS for your pet:

Summer is finally here and  it’s time to think about the needs of your pets during the hot, dry summer months:

  • WATER!  Make sure your pet has plenty of water on hand to stay hydrated & cool off with.
  • Make sure your pets have proper ID on them at all times in case they get away from you on your trek to the beach or walk in the park. Consider microchipping your pet.
  • PLEASE don't leave your pet unattended in a hot vehicle! It only takes a few minutes for a vehicle to get too hot for a pet on even a cloudy day. This is a NO BRAINER!
  • Schedule a professional grooming that includes a bath, haircut if needed, and nail trimming for your pets comfort during the hot summer months.
  • Remember that just like our own feet, our pets paws are sensitive on hot concrete & blacktop, so keep that in mind when walking them.
  • And most importantly, any time of the year, resolve to spay and neuter your pets so that your animals don’t contribute to the large population of unwanted litters.

EFFECTS OF CURRENT ECONOMIC DISATER:     MORE HOMELESS PETS!!

No one will forget the lost looks on the faces of pets abandoned after Hurrican Katrina. Today, local animal shelters are helping victims of another disaster - an economic disaster. For many people and their pets, the current mortgage crisis is every bit as devastating as a natural disaster.

Across the country, animals are being found abandoned in foreclosed homes. Pet owners are desperately trying to find someone to take in the furry and feathered members of their families. Some have tearfully left their pets at shelters, not knowing what would become of them, but believing they could at least give them some chance of being adopted.

It is never OK to leave the family pet to fend for himself.  If there is a short time-frame, a few ways to find temporary care for animals is through kenneling, boarding at a vet's office, fostering with a friend – anything to give more time to look for the right home for the pet. “They may have the ability to keep their animal if they can find this temporary care, to tide them over until they find a pet-friendly home for themselves.”

What you can do: If you’re facing potential foreclosure, go to the Hope Now Alliance or call the toll-free hotline at 1-888-995-HOPE for information and resources.

OUR MISSION: The main focus of our group is to rescue unwanted animals who are going to be euthanized.  Last Chance Rescue is a NON-PROFIT organization that believes that ALL animals deserve the right to a happy, healthy environment.  We are committed to saving the lives of animals that otherwise would be destroyed.

The Animal Rescue Site

www.theanimalrescuesite.com

The Animal Rescue Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need — providing food for some of the 27 million unwanted animals given to shelters in the U.S. every year. Over 10 million animals are put to death every year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted.

Each click on the purple "Click Here to Give - it's FREE" button at The Animal Rescue Site provides food and care for a rescued animal living in a shelter or sanctuary. Funding for food and care is paid by site sponsors and distributed to animals in need at the Fund for Animals' renowned animal sanctuaries (including Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch in Texas and the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in California), pet shelters supported by the Petfinder Foundation, North Shore Animal League, and other worthy animal care facilities supported by the GreaterGood.org foundation.

100% of sponsor advertising fees goes to our charitable partners.
